I was en route to get my hair done for a wedding, when one of my fellow bridesmaids described the “basic” girl: she wears leggings, Uggs, an oversized shirt, carries a Longchamp bag, and likes pumpkin spice lattes… Little did this near-stranger know that that was just about my daily uniform, in various colors and patterns… when I’m not working, of course. And I LOVE pumpkin spice lattes (skim, but not skinny, for anyone looking to surprise me during the autumn months). This is how I decided to rebrand my blog, formerly known as Expensive Wine and Cheap Cheese. I transferred many of my old posts from there to here, and just decided to embrace all the things I like.. Simplistic? Perhaps. Fun? I hope so! I love to travel, cook, bake, write, decorate, hike, visit local wineries and entertain, and I try to stretch every dollar as much as possible. I also live by the rule to be a tourist in your own town. I’ve lived in DC for eight years, and every year, wonder if it’s my last (even though, practically speaking, that is very unlikely!)… I hope to soak up every second of living here! It’s a great city with a ton to do. While there are plenty of lifestyle blogs out there, I hope this can offer an unique approach to living the fabulous life practically. It that an oxymoron?
