Ah, the quintessential “imaginary audience” of millennials. I genuinely thought I was a bit of a celebrity with these posts. You know, because everyone cares about my life abroad, and absolutely no one else has ever studied abroad in Europe? **Blush**
These were the days before the smell of cider make we wince, and I did car bombs in bars.
I’m sorry I suck at updating,
…But life has been freakin busy!
Since I have last written, the past things have happened: 1)Mom visited 2)I went to Switzerland 3)I had another 10-day in Italy and 4)Brooke is here.
1) Mom visited. Literally the day after I got back from 10-day number one, my mom had arrived, jet lagged. Luckily the school kept the parents entertained while we were at class, and on the weekend we were able to travel with them. Mom, me, Lindsay and her parents ended up palling around together in Salzburg and Vienna. In Salzburg, we went to a castle for a “traditional Austrian meal” (which consisted of some gross liver stuff and fish… needless to say, I did not eat it), and a loooong Mozart concert. Lindsay, Kathleen and I played, “would you rather” the entire time. My mom yelled at me. It really made me miss being scolded at home. I think the best “would you rather” question we came up with was, “Would you rather gallop every time you walk or have a tennis racket permanently affixed to your hand?” Think about that. It is quite insightful… After the concert, I was exhausted and went to bed. The next day, Mom and I slept in and did a little shoppy shop in Salzburg. I looove that city. It is oh-so European. That evening, we met up with the rest of the FUSers at the Augisteener for a few brewisi’s. Then, the parentals took a cab back and I walked with Danielle Lamour and we had some really good chats. We then went to some little Irish pub and my mom met some Army guys and I had a few ciders. Then, the parents decided to be lame and go to bed, so Stephen, Kathleen, Lindsay, Danielle, Darby and I went to continue our night out in Salzburg. We went to some other Irish pubs, did a few car bombs, and had a good ol’ time. The next day we went to Vienna, shopped, toured, the usual, before parting with the parentals as they were leaving for the Nifty Fifty the next day.
2) The weekend after parents week, I went with freakin everyone to Gimmelwald, Switzerland. A few people had gone the week before, raved about it, so a ton of people decided to follow suit. All in all, we had between 30 and 45 people from Gaming meet up in this itsy bitsy Swiss town and all stay in the same Mountain Hostel. This place was breath-taking. Nestled in the Swiss Alps, this silent and beautiful town made for a perfect, restful weekend. We took an overnight train from Thursday to Friday, then took a bus to a lift, and then took to lift to Gimmelwald. We hadn’t eaten anything, and then found out that it was another hour walk up the moutain to get to any place that sells food. SO, we walked up to the top of the mountain wihtout any sustinence to eat. We stayed up there for a little while before walking back down. Then, someone had the brilliant idea of going to the famour ice caves. The girl at the hostel said it was the “easiest hike she’s ever done.” I can’t imagine the kind of hikes this girl has done, because it kicked my ass. Literally. It hurt for days. We never actually made it to the ice caves cuz after walkign for 2 horus and still not being able to find it, night was about to fall, and it would have reeeeeeeeeally sucked to be stuck in the Alps with all the elks and bears and stuff.
