If there was one thing in the world that I could change, it would be the ridiculous policy for air travel and cancellations.  If everyone was like Southwest, the world would be a much better and happier place.  I flew across the country whilst sick.  Like, sicker than I had been in years.  I sat in a tiny seat, hacking up a lung, likely infecting those around me..  Why?  Because I would have been out $650 if I had cancelled it (I flew with a voucher that was soon to expire).  NOT OK!  One extremely valuable lesson I learned from this whole experience, though, is to always always always research which type of plane is assigned to which flight.  My American Airlines flight from DCA to PHX was aboard an Airbus A-321, which might be the worst thing with wings, except for maybe a buzzard.  The plane was huge, but all the meant was that they could cram more people aboard.  The seats were TINY (think Spirit Airlines), and everyone kept bumping in to each other because, well, Americans are fatter than the French (Airbus is a French company).  I will say, however, my redeye back to DC was much more pleasant on a Boeing 737 (USA! USA! USA!) with comfortable seats.

I arrived in Phoenix and went straight to bed.  On Saturday, I downed Dayquil and Tylenol (to lower my fever) and knocked off one pretty hefty bucket list item: Go to spring training.

This has always been a goal of mine, and I’m so glad I was able to venture out to Goodyear, Arizona to see my beloved Cleveland Indians play, still relishing in their World Series glory.  Many of my favorite players were out at the World Baseball Classic, but it was still a blast to see the Tribe beat the Kansas City Royals, with a 6-7 final score.

Spring training really brings out the best of fans, and this year was no exception.  I really liked playing against the Royals because Kansas people are some of the friendliest in the country.  Cleveland people are pretty nice too, so it was a stadium full of nice people.

See the mountains in the background?  So pretty!!!  Can’t wait to go back next year!!
