A few weekends ago, my pal, Catherine and I went brewery hunting. Even though wineries are my go-to, I often forget how much fun breweries can be. Now that I live on the Maryland side of D.C., Baltimore is super easy for me to get to, so I know this little venture is not a one-time thing.
I visited Heavy Seas YEARS ago. It might have even been my first year or two living in D.C. What a FUN spot. The indoor part is dog-friendly (which is super rare.. Most places, dogs can only be outside) and the beer is uh-mazing. They were at the CF Brewers Ball, so I wanted to pay them another visit.
Brewery tours are only $7.42 (plus tip) per person, and, if you’re in to learning about the beer-making process, totally worth checking out. You also get a complimentary beer glass and two half-pours of beers of your choice. If you’d rather just hang out, drink beer, and play games from giant Connect Four to cornhole, this is a great spot to do that. It’s actually perfect on a dreary day because the indoor area is spacious and there are plenty to do. One of Jim’s all-time favorite beers is Loose Cannon, and I’m loving Tropi-Cannon these days.
Oh, and not pictured is the AMAZINGGGG food truck parked outside. Cath and I split beer cheese fries and they were all I dreamed of and more.
Next up, Catherine and I went to the Guinness Brewery. Yeah. There’s a Guinness Brewery in Baltimore and it’s SO cool, but tours are really hard to come by. If you want to tour on a weekend, you have to book like, 1.5-2 months in advance. That being said, even though we did not get to do a tour, we still loved it. There’s live music, great food, and all the other guests are happy and friendly. There’s a TON of space, and I can’t wait until the weather stays warm, and the outdoor area is open!
Do you have a favorite Maryland brewery? There are so many good ones that I can’t wait to check out! Have a great weekend!
