Today I’m taking a page from Kelly in the City and writing a few things that are on my mind right now. Not necessarily because you care but because I enjoy writing and hope to get back in a regular habit of it.
I’m refreshed. I started writing this post when we were a week away from Easter break and now I’m in the throws of it. As someone who’d been in the corporate world most recently, I had no idea how much I needed little breaks from work. Please enjoy some little things I’ve been thinking about.
Easter baking.
During Covid, I got way more into baking than I had ever been before. This year I’m made Easter oatmeal M&M cookies for clients and will be making Italian Easter bread to send home to my great aunt when I’m back in MD… I already send her a little IOU card in the mail.
RTR
A dear friend is getting married this week and I’ve spent an obscene amount of time and energy deciding on my attire choice. I’m currently OBSESSED with Rent the Runway. I am planning on doing two months’ worth because DC social life is back in full swing. Between my spring vacation, the wedding, a gala (possibly two) and an ordination, I’m going to have a LOT of dresses to wear. Stay tuned. RTR is so, SO good.
2022-2023 Clients
Good news? I have three, possibly four, school clients for next year. Bad news? It’s going to be a lot, but I’m excited about it!
I’m incapable of a long vacation.
I recently went to visit my cousin in NC… for less than 24 hours. For as much as I love a sneak away, I’m terrible at truly relaxing and unplugging for long periods of time. I had originally planned on taking a week off for Easter but, alas, I’m only took a long weekend… But it was honestly all that I needed. It felt great.
Reading assessments.
Boring, I know, but I’m looking to improve the assessments I do with my students and I’ve been trying out a few. The reports I have to write afterword take FOREVER regardless of what assessments I end up using a lot of time interpreting… Anyway, that’s been on my mind a lot these days.
Roasted chick peas.
Um, I forgot how delicious these are. I could easily eat an entire can’s worth. WHY are they SO good?
I cut out coffee
For the most part. I did one of those food sensitivity tests (story for another time–doing the test was a disaster) and it showed that coffee is causing minor inflammation in me. Sniffle sniffle. While I do certainly adore my morning coffee, I adore being skinny more. As of right now, I’m down to two cups a week and am drinking green tea instead… And I must say, it feels pretty darn good. I’m sleeping a LOT better, am less bloated and yes, am down a few pounds. Crazy, isn’t it?
My dogsitter is an angel.
Like, the best human ever. I always feel SO comfortable leaving the boys with her. Not only does she love them, her daughter is a veterinarian so I know they’re always getting the best care.
Masks are done on planes.
… and I’m currently watching a group of fully muzzled people deplane from Chicago. (Yes, I’m writing this from RSW). Now, call me Judgy McJuderson, but I don’t get it. I’m thrilled to be in the airport able to breathe freely.
Don’t even get me started on people who mask whilst OUTSIDE and dozens of feet from others.
I can’t.
I love when my friends are happy.
Since I was a bit negative before, I thought I would end this on a positive note. As I’m writing this, a dear friend is getting married tomorrow. By the time you read this, she’s married. There is something so sweet about seeing a friend who’s gone through so much finally have her happy ending… And I’m simply elated for her.
