Happy Thursday, friends! We made it. Thursday is garbage day for me and in a weird way, when I drag out my trash barrels on Wednesday night, I feel as though it’s just a quick track in to the weekend.

Before I start talking about my fall decor, I wanted to share a very high recommendation for The Social Dilemma on Netflix. Here’s the trailer…

Please, please do yourself a favor and watch it. I feel as though I’ll need to re-watch it monthly to ensure I don’t go back to my mindless scrolling days.

OK, now onto lighter topics… Fall decor!

Background…

At the risk of sounding like the most basic of basic b’s, I adore fall and am elated that it’s starting to show here in the DC area. Ever since COVID hit, I’ve felt like we’ve been in a time warp and.. wasn’t Fourth of July like, just last week?

Anyway, I’m certainly NOT complaining and now that Big Ten Football is back in a little over a month (Go Bucks!), I am ready to get the festivities going. In fact, I spent a good chunk of this past Saturday watching football games that I don’t particularly care about because I just so happen to love college football!

Clarification- Jim is a Domer so I do, in fact, care about ND Football.

Anyway, I thought I’d give you a tiny tour of what my humble abode looks like right now. I must say I’m pretty proud of how it turned out and look forward to spooking it up a bit when Halloween decor becomes socially acceptable in a week or two!

How It Started…

You may recall that I bought a second home a few weeks ago and well, don’t have a ton of cash right now. Down payments are expensive! With the slight chill starting to make its way here, though, I knew I really wanted to maybe just jazz the place up a pinch.

It all started when I bought two of the black and white checkered pumpkins from Marilyn’s Two in Lakeside, which might be my favorite speciality shop ever.

Then, I bought the sparkle pumpkins for the Dollar Tree and the black plush pumpkins from the Target dollar bin and put it on a two-tiered stand that I found at Good Will years ago (similar HERE) placed it on a plastic gold charger from the Dollar Tree (yup, it was $1) and taaa daaaa!

And then, for good measure, I got the real mini pumpkins for added texture and black and white pillow covers because, duh…

Then I thought it probably made sense to take a look at what I already have in my closet… I had totally forgotten about this pumpkin candle holder my mom got me last year! I should also note that A.I. Root’s Mulled Cider candle is the BEST fall candle out there.

While I was on a kick, I also got these garlands from Hobby Lobby for (I think) $10 each!

And, I put up the rest of what I already had.. And I love how it turned out.

The white pumpkins next to my somewhat tacky but I love it travel Mary collection were $3 from the Target bargain bin thing (what are they calling it now?)

Um, Brittany, looks like you went on a bit of a spending bender…

While it might appear that way, not a single purchase of mine was more than $20. While $20 here and $20 can certainly add up, I was happy how inexpensive it was to “zhuzh up.” If you’re wanting fall decor but really don’t have the budget for it, check out the Dollar Tree. I’ve been a few times since fall decor came out and SO much of it is super cute!

Do you have any tried and true inexpensive decor tips? I’d love to know in the comments below! Have a great weekend!
