Gosh this is a weird year. Normally I’ve planned an elaborate Halloween costume, made major plans and counted down the days until Halloween. Obviously with Covid things are more than a little different.
If you, like me, are looking for a bit of “normal-ish” I thought I’d share some Halloween costumes that you can create, even if it’s just to sit home and watch Hocus Pocus or Casper in. I just keep reminding myself that next year will only be that much more fun because we know to never take Halloween for granted again. Enjoy!
Hippy
You know you fell hook, line and sinker for the tie die trend this past summer, so dressing up as a hippy would be super easy! Just part your hair in the middle, wear a headband the wrong way and you’re good to go. Peace dude.
Carol Baskin
Is this the most unoriginal Halloween costume of 2020? Yes. Can you still do it? Also yes. If you have any kind of flower arrangement lying around, just pluck off the stems and pin them in your hair. You can always put them back when the costume is done. Girlfriend wore a lot of flowers in her hair during Tiger King so this touch is an absolute must.
Rosie the Riveter
Again, unoriginal and I don’t care. The iconic ad lady from the World War II days lives on in American hearts as a feminist symbol for many. Don a chambray shirt, a red bandana and red lipstick and scream an occasional, “WE CAN DO IT!” See? Easy peasy.
Pumpkin
This gourd isn’t just for chubby babies. An orange tee shirt + a Dollar Tree headband + pipe cleaners (they’re in the Christmas section right now) + green flowers (if you’re feeling jazzy) and a glue gun will get you set up in no time.
