This weekend’s insanely awesome weather kept me outside pretty much all day, and I ventured to the Virginia mountains with some friends (more on that coming soon!). This made me realize, however, how much of a slacker I’ve been with posting about local vineyards, which, this is no secret, is one of my all-time favorite things to do on a pretty weekend afternoon.
We went to Chryalis Winery last fall, and it was a crisp, chilly day, which made me (falsely) believe that we were beginning to hunker down for a long winter. Fast forward to late February, with my open window… and I’ve still yet to see too many bitterly cold days. Anyway, Chryalis’s wine is FANTASTIC. Even the wines of the “porch pounder” variety (Patio White and Patio Red) were still awesome. I absolutely loved the Norton, which is one of the signature wines of Virginia. Also, the Albarino Verde is a fun, light wine that would be perfect for sipping on hot summer nights whilst sitting on a dock, smelling the fresh Great Lake breeze.. Can you tell I’m craving summer? Sorry for the tangent ;). I will also say that Chryalis also sells Norton Grape Jelly for only $5, which makes a fun little souvenir from the beautiful Virginia Mountains.
Chryalis is also really close to some other, fantastic wineries like Cana, Boxwood and Greenhill.. More on those later! For now, enjoy the photos.
