I’ve loved seeing how people were expanding their DIY skills during quarantine. It really got me thinking about the dumb stuff I’ve been known to spend money on. For example, when Cannoli was looking like a homeless ragamuffin, I YouTubed a dog grooming video and, while not perfect, I think he’s looking pretty darn dapper.
Plus I don’t think he was thrilled with the idea of having a ponytail, even if I told him it was more of the badass biker-type ponytail.
Anyway, dog grooming is ~$75 including tip which, at the rate Cannoli’s hair grows, adds up quickly.
This got me thinking about other unnecessary things I spend money on, and getting my nails done was an obvious infraction. While the experience can be fun, having to go every few weeks at roughly $60 a trip with dip manicure and toenail polish change again, adds up quickly.
Enter Color Street.
What is Color Street?
I’d been hearing about Color Street on the interwebs for a while now and was forced to take a look when my nail salon closed for COVID. This is going to sound weird, but basically it’s a nail polish “sticker” that goes on your nails and somehow looks better than the very best manicure you’ve ever had. To clarify, it’s not an actual sticker–it’s nail polish. It even smells like nail polish when you’re putting it on. Again, I don’t understand how it works, but it definitely does.
How do you apply Color Street?
Just watch this. It’s the better than anything I can try to describe
How long does it last?
This is where I was the most skeptical. Like almost everyone, I washed my hands a LOT during quarantine (and still do), so real, paint-on nail polish only lasts like 3 days for me. I was very doubtful that Color Street would do me well and it (for the most part) did. I’ll be honest–I wasn’t impressed with the longevity of the glitter Color Street, but the solids looked perfect for about ten days and looked presentable for another ten days past that. I’m not someone who always needs to have perfect nails, so “presentable” was fine to maximize it.
How do you remove it?
Just with regular nail polish remover! It’s not as hard to remove as a gel or dip manicure but not as easy as regular nail polish. That being said, it’s still VERY easy to remove. It just requires a bit more muscle. The easy removal is honestly what sold me about Color Street.
What does it cost?
Color Street is buy three, get one free, bringing the cost of the solids down to $8.25 each. Compare that with the $50ish I was spending on dip manicures including tip, that’s a huge savings.
But there are knockoffs somewhere, right? Aren’t those just as good?
Trust me when I say if someone can find a knockoff of something, it’s me. I SCOURED the Internet and did not find anything at ALL similar to Color Street. There are “nail vinyls” on Etsy, but those require heat to adhere. No thanks.
How do I order?
I thought you’d never ask! I’m “hosting” a little party right now and you can shop HERE. The “Swiss and Tell” is definitely going to be on my next order. So pretty, right?
Thanks for checking out this post! I hope your week is fun-filled and fabulous!
I don’t think that I could give up my pedicures- but I could definitely use something like this on my nails! Thanks for the honest review!
